About us

Peace Partners saw its inception in March 2009 on the online musical collaboration site Indaba Music. Worn by it's founde, Patrick Lajeunesse, the project proposed that artists worldwide collaborate creatively around the themes of peace and freedom. In the following year over fifty artists from over a dozen countries created three online albums of original material based around these themes.

The 14th of September 2009, Peace Partners was registered as a non-profit association with the Quebec registrar of businesses. The Association then made official its mission to bring together artists from a diversity of cultures, peoples and nations and create space for dialogue through the creation and public performance of collaborative works focusing on the themes of peace and freedom. This was only the beginning!

In fall 2011 a friend of Peace Partners, Richard Seguin, had the idea of creating a Quebec edition of the project. A few weeks later Mr. Seguin remade the song “L’envie d’y croire”, setting the tone for the Quebec edition. Thus far, sixteen songs by Quebec artists have been recorded and compiled as an online album. The launch of the album took place in Montréal on March 20th, 2012. Discover this project and the album resulting of it in the Album 2012 section

Amnesty International’s French Canadian branch is a primary partner in the Peace Partners adventure. As “Artists for Human Rights” with Amnesty’s French Canadian branch it was decided by the Peace Partners administrative council that all profits incurred by sales of the 2012 album would go directly to Amnesty, an organization dedicated to the struggle for peace, freedom and human rights.

The 3rd of January, 2014, Peace Partners held a general assembly to pass from the status of Association to that of a non-profit organization and elected their administrative council. Its members are:

President: Lauréat Moreau

Vice-President: Anne Beaumier

Secretary-Treasurer : Francis Poulin

Administrator : Dominique Lebeau

Administrator: Viviane Michel

Partners as a non-profit organization is now focused on bringing together artists of different nations for musical collaborations in first nation communities throughout Québec. The first project was proposed for spring 2014 in the Atikamekw community of Manawan. You can here the results of this gathering in the section Manawan 2014. Enjoy!
